The School is the Zoo

Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo at Millbrook School Rebrand

The School is the Zoo

Imagine having a zoo on your campus. That is the reality for Millbrook School. What started in 1936 with faculty member Frank Trevor and his station wagon full of animals has evolved to become an AZA-accredited zoo filled with over 180 exotic and indigenous animals and endless hands-on learning experiences for Millbrook students.

Over the years, Trevor and the zoo have impacted hundreds of Millbrook students, including Tom Lovejoy. Lovejoy went on to become a leading international conversationist, much because of his experience at the Trevor Zoo. In 2025, Millbrook School renamed the Zoo to honor the relationship between the two: teacher and student. We focused on that concept to bring the identity into the 21st century.

Looking to the history of the zoo and its unique role at an independent school, we created a modern brand identity that resonates with the Millbrook School community as well as zoo-goers in the area.

One and two-color versions of the logo allow for flexibility in creating signage, merchandise, and print materials.
It was important to create a mark that could be legible, and embroidered on staff shirts. In addition, it needed to be fun and playful for store merchandise.
“The School is the Zoo, the Zoo is the School.”

“The Trevor-Lovejoy Zoo’s brand identity developed by 2communiqué perfectly achieved our goals: to usher in a new era of the zoo, centering on education and teaching opportunities while reinforcing the symbiotic connection between the zoo and Millbrook School students.”
